Does my car have a rear wiper blade?
Not every vehicle has a rear wiper blade — and the ones that do almost always use a different size than the front blades. Before buying a replacement, it helps to know whether your vehicle has one and what size it takes.
Which vehicles have a rear wiper blade?
The shape of the rear glass is the deciding factor. Vehicles with a steeply sloped rear window — like SUVs, crossovers, hatchbacks, and minivans — collect road spray and rain on the glass. A rear wiper clears it. Vehicles with near-vertical rear glass, like most pickup trucks, rely on the angle of the glass to shed water naturally.
SUVs, crossovers, CUVs, minivans, station wagons, hatchbacks. The sloped rear glass collects spray from the road and requires active clearing.
Pickup trucks, most sedans, and some coupes. Trucks have steep or near-vertical glass that sheds water without a blade. Many sedans are configured without one as well.
Common rear wiper blade sizes by vehicle
Rear wiper blades are almost always shorter than the front blades — typically between 11" and 16". The table below shows rear wiper sizes for popular SUVs and crossovers in our verified database.

Pickup trucks: why there is no rear wiper
Pickup trucks do not have rear wipers, and this is by design — not an omission. The bed of the truck creates an airflow pattern that lifts road spray away from the rear glass. Combined with nearly vertical rear glass, water does not accumulate the same way it does on a sloped SUV hatch. The following trucks in our database all confirm no rear wiper:
- Ford F-150
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- GMC Sierra 1500
- Ram 1500
- Toyota Tacoma
- Toyota Tundra
Is the rear blade the same size as the front?
No. The rear wiper blade is almost always a different size from the driver-side and passenger-side front blades. It is typically much shorter. For example, a Toyota RAV4 uses a 26" driver blade, a 16" passenger blade, and a 12" rear blade — three different sizes. Never assume the rear matches the front.
When buying a replacement set, check whether the package includes a rear blade. Sets labeled "set of 2" cover only the front. "Set of 3" or "set of 3 with rear" includes the rear blade.
